| Don't want to read? Don't feel like waiting for a ton of pics to show up? Just RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE HERE and start the download now of the 14mb compilation on the day. You'll NEED the DivX 5.03 codec to play it. If you're lazy, here's the lower quality 7mb WMV file that any recent Windows Media Player can play. Sorry for the bolds...but someone always complains and it's usually their fault for being so out of date :) Back to the day... Wow. Simply wow. I've seen drifing many times before and it's not really my cup of tea (as far as actually feeling the urge to go DO it). That being said, I had one of the best times I've ever had at a car-related event. Seb, Mike (La Canada) and KILLR300ZX all made it out today as well as some of our non-Z friends. It was a big group and most of us had cameras in hand, helping out to gather the great shots. We arrived around 10:30am only to find the line was all the way out of the facility into the street! Most people were in line for 2 hours to get in thanks to the ONE security gaurd with a metal detector. Thankfully, we used a little deception and managed to get in within about 20 minutes. If anything, we're resourceful out here :) So in we went and it was a beautiful day to say the least.
From even back in the line we could see and hear the drifting already in full swing. At one point a few of the KOD (Kings of Drag) were already tooling around the course coming precariously close to the people in line to get in. Sure made the wait in line less boring. Aside from the obvious activity, there was a DTM versus JDM carshow taking place next to the track. Todd Kanekos (sp?) show-winning 240Z
Some unknown 300ZX...some decent stereo stuff but nothing fancy.
A very nice 350Z (amazing how it only takes rims to improve the look that much)
Decked out.
VERY nicely done car.
Don't usually see NSXs in blue...
Wow. This thing was twice as impressive in person. It's not even bling bling...it's blang blang man. The picture does it NO justice on the metallic candy-apple red paint...I wish my car was that color.

Models? Sure, why not...
Oops!
Seb...hey Seb...where'd you go? Ahh...
If you're done oogling, let's get to the meat and potatoes of the day...the drifting. Aside from the drift school and the public entries, there were four "Kings of Drift" that made their way out onto the course every few hours on the day. Three that I know of were Yoshinori Koguchi and his 350hp 1991 Nissan 180SX, Seigou Yamamoto and his 600hp 1996 JZX100 Toyota Chaser and Fumiaki Komatsu (Drifter X) with his 400hp 1991 Nissan 180SX. Here are the men and their cars.

Love them wacky Japanese :)

And for some of the action shots. Managed to talk my way into a press pass and get RIGHT up on the action. In fact, I was too close...I had tire shavings in my hair, ears, everywhere after they'd get so close to the wall. In fact, here I am on the far left in the black hat kneeling down!
And from my perspective (more in the video too)

 Open them doors!

To be expected... Thankfully they had about a DOZEN extras it seemed.
It CAN fix ANYTHING!

Too close! Scrape that wall guys!

Anyway, a great day had by all. In fact, I'm sick or typing and working on the keyboard...trying to teach myself Adobe Premier while checking the forum and trying to eat all at once has me beat. Great seeing everyone and I look forward to the next one! Hope you enjoyed it.
